Only Those Who Thirst for Righteousness Can Welcome the Lord

When you yearn for the return of the Savior and see the increasingly intense disasters, do you hope all the more to welcome the Lord and be raptured into the kingdom of heaven soon? But did you know? Some people have already received the Lord while you are eagerly waiting for the coming of the Lord. Then what kind of people have received the Lord already?

The Lord Jesus said, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6).

Almighty God says, “God directs His words to all of humanity. If you are willing to read them, He will enlighten you, but if you are not, He will not. God enlightens those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, and He enlightens those who seek Him.”

From God’s words, we come to understand that God appears to those who thirst for righteousness. So what is thirsting for righteousness? It’s thirsting for the truth, and for God’s words. Just as when the Lord Jesus appeared and did His work, many people who thirsted for the truth recognized the Lord Jesus as the coming Messiah through the truth expressed by the Lord Jesus and received His salvation. For example, Peter, Nathanael, the Samaritan woman, and Nicodemus all welcomed the Lord and received His salvation by listening to His words. However, the scribes and Pharisees were arrogant and bored of the truth. They took the Lord’s words lightly and condemned and resisted Him at will. In the end, not only did they fail to meet the Messiah, but they were also punished for resisting God.

Similarly, in the matter of welcoming the coming of the Lord in the last days, we must have the desire to seek the truth as well. The Lord Jesus said, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth …” (John 16:12–13). Revelation prophesies seven times, “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit said to the churches” (Revelation 2–3). It can be seen that when the Lord returns He will express all the truths to save mankind. Therefore, when we hear someone testify that the Lord has returned and expressed new words, we should hunger and thirst for righteousness to seek and investigate. If we are sure that His words are the truth and God’s utterances, and then accept and obey, this is what it means to welcome the return of the Lord.
