The Samaritan woman didn’t know much about the scriptures, and she had no association with the religious leaders at that time. Why could she welcome the Lord? It’s because she focused on listening to God’s words. When she heard the Lord Jesus revealed the secrets hidden in her heart and pointed out the right way to worship God, she recognized Him as God because she knew that no one but God Himself can observe the depths of man’s heart and provide for man’s needs. It’s from the Lord Jesus’ conversation with her that she determined He was the promised Messiah and thus accepted His salvation. So, the Samaritan woman was wise because she attentively listened to the Lord’s voice.
Now is the last days, the time to welcome the Lord’s return. It’s prophesied seven times in Revelation that “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Revelation Chapters 2,3), which shows us that when the Lord returns in the last days, He will express what the Holy Spirit says to the churches. Therefore, to welcome the Lord’s return, we need to learn the wisdom of the Samaritan woman, in other words, we should pay attention to listening to the Lord’s utterances in the last days.
God says, “Wherever God appears, there the truth is expressed, and there the voice of God will be. Only those who can accept the truth will be able to hear the voice of God, and only such people are qualified to witness the appearance of God.”
Now the Lord Jesus has returned as the incarnate Almighty God. Almighty God has expressed millions of words, which are the Holy Spirit’s words to the churches. If we want to welcome the returned Lord, we should listen to His words attentively and accept them as soon as we recognize them as God’s voice, as the Samaritan woman did. This in fact is the key to welcoming the return of the Lord Jesus, just as He said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27).
