Editor’s note: Bible verse is Matthew 6:7. This verse may help us pray to God, and worship God with honest attitude.
But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
– Matthew 6:7
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
Prayer is one of the ways in which every Christian get close to God, it is a means by which we obtain the work of the Holy Spirit. Many times, we don’t know how to pray to be approved of by the Lord, but believe that the longer time we pray, the better it will be. Hence, prayer becomes a ceremony, and we cannot find the way to enter into true prayer.
Actually, we can understand from the Lord’s word: in order that our prayer could be heard by God and to obtain His leading, we must get rid of false prayer, repeating words that come from the mouth but not the heart or prayer for show. If we hope that God will listen to our prayers, we must give up the prayers that He hates. Only in this way, we will get closer to God.
The Bible said: “But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (Jhn 4:23-24). The Lord asked us to speak the words within our heart with heart and with honesty, and pray with an honest heart rather than saying some nice words, then we can be approved by God. Share God’s word, “Whilst praying, your heart must be at peace before God, and it must be sincere. You are truly communing and praying with God; you must not deceive God using nice-sounding words. Prayer is centered around that which God wishes to complete today. Ask God to bring you greater enlightenment and illumination, and bring your actual state and troubles before God to pray, and make resolution before God. Prayer is not the following of procedure, but the seeking of God using your true heart. Ask that God protect your heart, making it able to often be at peace before God, making you able to know yourself, and despise yourself, and forsake yourself in the environment that God has set for you, thus allowing you to have a normal relationship with God and making you someone who truly loves God.”
Prayer
O God! I often take prayer as a form of ceremony every day, but worship You without honest attitude. In the days that followed I’ll pray to You and get close to You with a true heart.
You are welcome to use our Bible Verse of the Day to enrich your spiritual life.
