The scripture recorded the conversation between the Lord Jesus and the Samaritan woman, and everyone must be familiar with it. The Lord Jesus said to the Samaritan woman: “For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: in that said you truly” (John 4:18).
The Samaritan woman was very surprised when she heard that, and then said to everyone: “Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” (John 4:29)
Why could the Samaritan woman recognize that the Lord Jesus is the Christ through a short conversation? Because she believed that only God can scrutinize all things, and only God can tell everything she did secretly, and convince her. The Samaritan woman did not know the Lord through the family background and appearance of the Lord Jesus, but discerned the Lord's voice by listening to the Lord's words! This is the fulfillment of the Lord Jesus' words: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). This shows that it is crucial for Christians to be able to listen to God's voice!
The experience of the Samaritan woman is worthy of our consideration and reflection. Nowadays, many online platforms are witnessing that the Lord has returned and speaks to mankind again, bringing us a path to cleanse our corrupt disposition. The sheep of God can recognize the Lord from the words of the Lord, and welcome the Lord’s return!
